You're in control of your privacy

It can be disconcerting facing the prospect of revealing your personal and professional information. We've got tools to keep you in control.

Unpublished profile

You can publish or unpublish your entire profile at any time.

When you first sign up, your profile is unpublished by default and you don't even have a profile handle. Nobody can access your data. You don't appear in recruiters' search results.

When you set a profile handle and publish your profile, the visibility of each individual section can be controlled. If you unpublish your profile with a profile handle set, requests to your profile URL will return a 404, just as if your profile did not exist.

A profile that returns a 404 will not be visible in recruiters' search results.

Individual section visibility

You can show or hide individual sections on your published profile.

Each section has an associated control to manage that section's visibility. Only sections that you enable as being visible on your public profile will be visible. You can also manage the visibility of all sections from a central privacy control panel.

You can keep sections invisible on your profile while you're still drafting content and only enable them as visible when you're entirely happy and you can keep whole sections invisible if you have no content for them.

Even with a published profile, data from sections you've set as invisible will not appear in recruiters' search results.

Keep sensitive information from public view

Particularly sensitive information like your full name, profile photo and full work history can be hidden from users who aren't logged in to DevCapital.

This means that only recruiters logged in to their account can see this information on your public profile. and helps to protect your personal information from bots scraping the web.

For the sensitive data items, you can manage your privacy controls to apply different settings for unauthenticated (public views, not logged in, bots and scrapers, etc), and recruiters who are logged in:

Data not shown at all, irrespective of that section's visibility

Data shown in an abridged form to unauthenticated users, and shown in full to logged-in recruiters

Data shown in full to everyone
